Following JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines ending their $3.8 Billion merger agreement, JetBlue has updated its growth strategy by focusing on stronger markets and retiring less popular flights.
Beginning June 13, JetBlue will end routes from five cities: Bogotá, Colombia; Quito, Ecuador; Lima, Peru; Kansas City, Missouri and Newburgh, New York.
Also starting in June, JetBlue will also cut the specific routes below:
- Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Tampa, FL.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL. to Atlanta, GA.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL. to Austin, TX.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL. to Nashville, TN.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL. to New Orleans, LA.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL. to Salt Lake City, UT.
- Los Angeles, CA. to Cancun, Mexico
- Los Angeles, CA. to Las Vegas, NV.
- Los Angeles, CA. to Liberia, Costa Rica
- Los Angeles, CA. to Miami, FL.
- Los Angeles, CA. to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- Los Angeles, CA. to Reno, NV.
- Los Angeles, CA. to San Francisco, CA.
- Los Angeles, CA. to Seattle, WA.
- New York City, NY. to Detroit, MI.
"We are confident that the changes we are making today, along with all the other revenue and cost programs underway, will set up JetBlue for long-term success and ultimately make us a stronger, more competitive airline ready to grow in the years to come," said Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s Vice President of Networking Planning.
Customers most impacted by the change will be able to select alternative flight options on JetBlue’s booking site, while a refund will be provided if alternative routes are unavailable.
