American Airlines (AA) recently announced they will soon offer streamlined security for AAdvantage members through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck Touchless ID, a verification system that identifies and compares the traveler’s image to their existing passport photo.
Developed in partnership with TSA, this program enables eligible members to navigate security checkpoints at select airports more efficiently and hands-free. The carrier anticipates the launch to happen in the coming months and will release more information to members about specific locations and timing soon.
To participate, AAdvantage members will be asked to opt-in to the program via their AA online account or mobile app and confirm their eligibility by providing their AAdvantage number, U.S. passport information or Known Traveler Number (KTN) before travel. Advantage members will only have to renew enrollment for this program once per year and can opt-out at any time.
“We want to give our customers an easy experience while they move through every point of their travel journey, and the airport is a big part of that,” said Kim Cisek, American’s Vice President of Customer Experience. “Introducing this option will help customers move more seamlessly from the airport lobby through TSA security to enjoy the next step in their travel.”
