Some of the most significant travel can happen close to home.
For the third year in a row, the Atlas Travel Flyers will lace up their shoes and hit the pavement for the Jimmy Fund Walk. Each individual walks along the Boston Marathon route for their own reasons, but the team is united by common threads: a desire to support the local community and to create a world free of cancer.
Atlas Travel & Technology Group’s (ATTG) CSR program, ReachOut, organizes the Flyers’ efforts each year. To honor the third year of continued community support, we set the bar high: $10,000 in fundraising contributions.
An ambitious goal required equally impressive means. Over the spring, the ATTG community came together to create an employee-generated cookbook. An outpouring of family recipes and global favorites produced a collection of nearly 250 recipes. Proceeds from the cookbooks will add to the Atlas Travel Flyers’ Jimmy Fund donations.
As additional inspiration, the Atlas Travel Flyers are walking in honor of Ava, our Jimmy Fund Walk Hero. A Massachusetts local, seven year old Ava has been battling leukemia since May 2016. Throughout treatment, Ava has remained positive and strong. She continues to enjoy her favorite activities, soccer and cooking; her dad says she’s even mastered their family recipe for chicken cutlets!
These new projects are in addition to traditional fundraising efforts, including in-house contests and partner donations. A special thank-you to this year’s supporters: Amadeus, Enterprise Holdings (National Rental Car), and Bonehead Wings, who were very generous with their support.
All told, the Atlas Travel Flyers have raised $9,665 as of September 22nd. And while the walk is fast approaching, with 40 more days to donate, our $10,000 goal is well within reach!
To those who have supported our team, we thank you. To those who have been impacted by cancer, we honor you. We are proud to know that, as of September 24th, we have moved that much closer to a cancer-free world.
